Certification And Petition To Make Special-Cancer Moonshot Expedited Examination Pilot Program {PTO-SB-465}

PTO/SB/465, CERTIFICATION AND PETITION TO MAKE SPECIAL UNDER THE CANCER MOONSHOT EXPEDITED EXAMINATION PILOT PROGRAM. This form is used by applicants to request participation in the Cancer Moonshot Expedited Examination Pilot Program. This program is designed to provide accelerated examination of patent applications related to cancer treatment, diagnosis, or prevention. The goal of the program is to advance the development and commercialization of new and effective cancer therapies. Applications accepted into the new Cancer Moonshot Expedited Examination Pilot Program will be advanced out of turn for examination and reviewed earlier (accorded special status) until a first Office action. Participants in the new program will not incur the petition to make special fee and are not required to satisfy the other requirements of the accelerated examination program. The new program begins on February 1, 2023, and is scheduled to run until either January 31, 2025, or the date by which the USPTO accepts a total of 1,000 grantable petitions, whichever is earlier. Applicants must use Form PTO/SB/465—which contains the petition and requisite certifications—to request participation in this program. Form PTO/SB/465 must be filed electronically using Patent Center.
