Description
CC 377 - PETITION FOR PERSONAL PROTECTION ORDER (NONDOMESTIC). This form is used in the State of Michigan when someone seeks a personal protection order against another person with whom they have no domestic relationship, such as marriage, cohabitation, or a child in common. The form is completed by the petitioner and provides details about both the petitioner and the respondent (the person against whom the protection order is sought). The form includes sections for the petitioner to explain the reasons why they need the protection order and to request specific prohibitions against the respondent's actions. The petitioner can ask the court to grant a personal protection order prohibiting the respondent from stalking, threatening, purchasing or possessing a firearm, or engaging in other specific behaviors that the petitioner fears may harm them. There is a section for the petitioner to request an ex parte order if they believe that immediate and irreparable harm will occur before a hearing can take place, and a section to acknowledge if someone else is acting as their "next friend" and petitioning on their behalf. The form also includes sections for proof of service, indicating how the petition was served to the respondent, and an acknowledgment of service, where the respondent acknowledges receipt of the petition. It should be noted that this form is specific to personal protection orders in non-domestic cases, where the parties have no domestic relationship. Approved, SCAO.
