Description
ORDER OF DESIGNATION AND REFERRAL TO JUDICIAL SETTLEMENT CONFERENCE.This form is used in the Circuit Court of the City of Virginia Beach to refer a case to a Judicial Settlement Conference. The court may issue this order either upon request of all counsel of record or at its own discretion. The purpose of the settlement conference is to facilitate negotiations between the parties under the guidance of a retired judge designated by the Virginia Supreme Court. The designated settlement judge conducts the conference at no cost to the parties, as their services are reimbursed by the Supreme Court of Virginia. Counsel must coordinate the conference date, time, and location, ensuring availability if the conference is to be held at the Virginia Beach Circuit Court. If the case does not settle, all parties are required to proceed with the currently scheduled trial date. However, if a settlement is reached, counsel must submit a final order to the court to remove the case from the pending docket. The Clerk’s Office provides copies of the order to all counsel of record and the designated settlement judge. www.FormsWorkflow.com
