PCT/IPEA/442, INVITATION TO INDICATE COMPETENT INTERNATIONAL PRELIMINARY EXAMINING AUTHORITY (PCT Rule 59.3(f) and Administrative Instructions, Section 601). This form is an invitation issued by the International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) to the applicant of a PCT application, requesting the applicant to indicate which IPEA should carry out the international preliminary examination (IPE) for their application. Under PCT Rule 59.3(f), the applicant is required to indicate a preferred IPEA in their PCT application. However, if the applicant has not indicated a preferred IPEA or if the preferred IPEA is not available, the IPEA may issue an invitation under Administrative Instructions, Section 601, requesting the applicant to indicate a competent IPEA to carry out the examination.
