Description
APPLICATION TO QUALIFY AS AN ATTORNEY OF THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE EASTERN DISTRICT OF VIRGINIA (RICHMOND DIVISION). This form is used in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond Division by attorneys seeking admission to practice before this federal court. To be admitted, the applicant must take the Oath of Admission in open court before a U.S. District Judge. The process requires that the applicant be accompanied by a movant, an attorney who has already been admitted to practice in the Eastern District of Virginia, who will make an oral motion for the applicant’s admission. Before appearing in court, the applicant must submit a notarized application with original signatures and attach a current copy of their Virginia Bar Card, verifying active membership. On the day of admission, the applicant and movant must report to the Clerk’s Office at least 15 minutes before the proceeding. After taking the oath, the applicant must return the completed application to the Clerk’s Office and pay a $199 admission fee, which cannot be paid in advance. Additionally, for an extra $21 fee, the applicant may request a Certificate of Good Standing, which qualifies them to apply for admission to the Western District of Virginia. Once the admission process is complete, the Clerk’s Office will mail the applicant a Certificate of Admission and, if requested, the Certificate of Good Standing. www.FormsWorkflow.com
