Description

Form MC 25 - NOTICE OF INTENT TO ESCHEAT UNCLAIMED PERSONAL PROPERTY. This form is used by Michigan courts to notify individuals that the court holds unclaimed personal property, such as an uncashed check, that rightfully belongs to them. The notice serves as a warning that if the property is not claimed within a specified period—no less than 60 days and no more than 365 days—it will be turned over to the Michigan Department of Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Division. The form provides details about the unclaimed property, including a description, the date it was received, and any relevant receipt or check numbers. If a check was previously issued and either returned by the postal service or remains uncashed, the notice advises the recipient on how to claim it before it is escheated to the state. Additionally, the form includes a Certificate of Mailing, confirming that the notice was sent to the recipient’s last known address in compliance with court rules. If the recipient fails to respond by the specified deadline, they must contact the Michigan Department of Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Division to recover their funds. Approved, SCAO. MCL 567.224a, MCL 567.234, MCL 567.238(5). www.FormsWorkflow.com
